Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We have been addressing reports of bullying/assault regarding school children, dealing with neighbour disputes, completing patrols and attending calls to Police this week. We have also been completing lots of CCTV work and safeguarding reports where vulnerable persons have been identified during our work.
We visited Bullfurlong Lane to speak with residents and complete leaflet drops following concerns regarding speeding and general dangerous driving in the area. We continue to encourage motorists to drive responsibly and take care when driving around residential areas. We have also received concerns regarding children on bikes/scooters and the manner of driving at schools times on Sharpless road and Far lash. We continue to complete road safety work and communicate with schools to support in keeping the roads safe.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
There has been an increase over recent weeks in suspicious activity in Burbage, some of which appears to be motorbike or vehicle related. Please do everything you can to secure, and target harden high value vehicles, motorbikes and mopeds. If you have any concerns or would like any support, please pop me an email. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
There are also concerns that criminals may be using signal blockers to interfere with your wireless CCTV. Whilst there has been no recent evidence of this in Burbage, it has been raised as a wider concern in other areas. Please use steering locks, block high value vehicles in and ensure you call 999 immediately if you see a crime in progress.
Scam alert, sent in by resident to raise awareness.
“I have recently received emails, allegedly from both Boots and Sainsbury's, offering a free gift in return for completing a customer survey. They are both scams. They request a small postage payment and the Boots one will ask for your card payment details. The Sainsbury one signs you up for a recurring, expensive monthly subscription hidden in the small print. A check of the email address shows they come from Japan!”
Thank you and take care.
